City Of London Still Aiming To Get Future WWE WrestleMania Event

London Mayor Sadiq Khan hasn’t given up on his goal of making his city the first international home of WrestleMania.

During his 2024 re-election campaign, Khan named WrestleMania as one of the global sporting events he’d like to see land in London. While nothing official has been agreed upon between WWE and the city yet, Khan did meet last summer with WWE execs Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Nick Khan to discuss the possibility.

The mayor’s office released a report today showing the major economic impact of six major events hosted in London in 2024—including the UEFA Champions League Final, NFL and MLB games, the London E-Prix, and the London Athletics Meet. According to the report, these events generated £230 million in direct economic benefit for the city.

Looking ahead, the report reaffirmed Khan’s commitment to landing WrestleMania for London:

"Building on London’s success, the Mayor has talked up his ambition to bring more of the biggest sporting events in the world to London. Sadiq has expressed his support for a bid for the Olympics and Paralympics to return to London in 2040, while he remains committed to making London WrestleMania’s first international destination. The Mayor is also in positive discussions with the NBA to bring games back to the capital, which is supported by the work of his Basketball Taskforce, while the 2029 World Athletics Championships is another target."

Triple H recently acknowledged that taking WrestleMania overseas would be a big undertaking, but said the company is ready for it:

"While bringing WrestleMania overseas would be difficult logistically, WWE is up for the challenge."

For now, WrestleMania remains stateside. Las Vegas hosted WrestleMania 41, with New Orleans next in line for WrestleMania 42 in 2026. Indianapolis is also locked in to host a future edition, thanks to a separate deal with WWE.
