-- Earlier today, John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal tweeted that FS1 was going to be "scaling back production" on WWE shoulder programming, which would mean WWE Backstage as far as wrestling goes. Ourand claimed that Backstage wouldn't be produced weekly but stopped short in saying that FS1 was pulling the plug entirely. However, a report from pwinsider.com states that FOX officials met this afternoon and informed everyone involved in the program that the series was done in its "current format." Those who were working on Backstage are of the belief that it's been canceled (except perhaps for a special episode here and there) and pro wrestling reporter Ryan Satin even tweeted a 'thank you' to everyone he worked with. While Renee Young is under contract to WWE, CM Punk's future in wrestling is unclear as he has no agreement in any form with WWE and was signed by FOX. In fact, WWE even stopped advertising Punk's Backstage appearances several months ago.
FS1 is scaling back production on its boxing and WWE shoulder programming. "WWE Backstage will not longer be produced weekly. It is eliminating "Inside PBC." Double digit job losses as a result. SBJ Media will have the full story tonight.
