Former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar's match for WrestleMania 42 remains a wild card as he is scheduled for the show but is currently booked into a bout where he has issued an open challenge.
Earlier in the week, it was noted that WWE has created the story of the challenge as they await word on the status of a couple injured wrestlers - Seth Rollins and perhaps more importantly, Bron Breakker. Depending on if Breakker is able to get cleared in time to compete, it would have a domino effect on the other matches including Lesnar's.
PWInsider Elite reported yesterday that according to sources within WWE, Oba Femi is actually the wrestler penciled into step up and challenge Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, which would seem to suggest that WWE is confident that Breakker will be back presumably in a match against Rollins.
The other name that had been previously rumored for Lesnar - Gunther - isn't believed to even be a consideration anymore, however, the report cautioned that WWE has already pivoted from a major storyline (Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntye, etc.) so anything is possible, however, as of now, the belief internally is that it will be Lesnar vs. Femi.
