Latest Backstage Update On Royce Keys & His Absence From WWE TV

Former AEW wrestler Powerhouse Hobbs debuted for WWE at Royal Rumble, first being acknowledged as Hobbs before getting a name change to Royce Keys. WWE then edited out references to Powerhouse Hobbs on their social media channels and since then, Keys has been notably absent from TV (but has been backstage at Smackdown and even wrestled a dark match last month) drawing speculation on what his future is with WWE.

On the latest WrestleVotes Q&A on Fightful Select, Keys' lack of creative direction was addressed and it led to reports suggesting that WWE had no plans at all for him despite bringing him in as a relatively highly coveted free agent. Today, Fightful clarified the situation.

According to the report, Keys still appears to be earmarked for WWE Smackdown as his home but nobody has heard of any definitive plans for him and there are no leads on when he may show up on TV; this is distinguished from erroneous reports that took that statement to mean the company has nothing for him. In other words, WWE may have a plan in place for Keys, it's just that nobody has heard of anything that they can report on.
