WWE star Santos Escobar, the leader of Legado Del Fantasma, re-signed with the company last November after his previous contract expired. However, he has yet to make an appearance on television. Recently, he took to his Twitter (X) account to spark speculation about his imminent return to WWE programming. In his tweet, he shared a photo of himself wearing the same mask he donned after re-signing, accompanied by the caption, "Waiting, Patiently."
Escobar re-signed with WWE partially on the condition that a creative plan would be established for him. At one point, there were plans for him to compete in AAA, but those plans appear to have changed. His last match for WWE took place at a house show in Mexico in July of last year.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Escobar's absence from WWE programming stems from a simple reason: the plans involving him just fell through the cracks. The report noted that WWE is still paying him, which highlights the oversight, but there have been discussions about getting things back on track.
The report also mentioned that WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque believes taking talent off TV for a period can create a bigger pop when they return. Although Escobar has primarily portrayed a heel in WWE, he could make a surprise comeback by attacking a fan-favorite wrestler. For example, if he were to join The Vision in their current feud with Penta and Rey Mysterio, it would keep fans guessing about which side he might choose.
