Backstage News On WWE Having Strong Interest In AEW's Powerhouse Hobbs

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials have a strong interest in AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs. They consider him a potential addition to their roster after his AEW contract expires, which is expected in 2026.

Although there is no confirmed expiration date for Hobbs' contract with AEW, WWE's interest puts him on their free-agent watchlist. Many believe that his powerful wrestling style would fit well within WWE, potentially leading to immediate opportunities.

Hobbs is currently one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions, along with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata. Their title reign began in April 2025 and has now surpassed 266 days. Since making his AEW television debut in 2020, Hobbs has steadily advanced in his career, moving from a member of Team Taz to becoming the AEW TNT Champion, and now holding his current position with The Opps.

Despite his championship status, discussions about Hobbs' long-term future are ongoing. It will be interesting to see if he ultimately makes the move to WWE, depending on the circumstances surrounding his contract.
