As previously reported, Chad Gable has been sidelined due to an injury he sustained last summer, just as his El Grande Americano storyline was starting to gain traction. In his absence, Ludwig Kaiser has continued to develop the El Grande Americano character. Recently, there have been indications that creative pitches are in place for Gable to make an appearance as early as Monday's RAW.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Gable is expected to return very soon, with the Royal Rumble being the targeted date for his comeback. Meltzer noted that upon his return, it is assumed Gable will continue to perform under the Chad Gable gimmick, while Kaiser will carry on as El Grande Americano. With Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne still portraying Rayo and Bravo Americano, a feud between Gable and the Creed brothers seems like a natural storyline direction.
Chad Gable, whose real name is Charles Betts, is a former NXT Tag Team Champion and has held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with his partner Jason Jordan as part of American Alpha. He has also been a RAW Tag Team Champion, winning those titles with Bobby Roode and Otis. As El Grande Americano, he captured his only WWE singles title to date: the Speed Championship.
