Monday Night Raw Quick Recap (1/11/2020)

Monday Night Raw Quick Recap for 1/11/2020

Matches Tonight: 11
  • Our first match of the night was Lacey Evans taking on Charlotte Flair, who was angry at Lacey for flirting with Ric last week. During the match, Ric Flair arrived unexpectedly, and made his way out to the ring. Just like last week's "accident," Ric Flair intervened to help Lacey Evans defeat his daughter.
  • Jeff Hardy lost in a semi-squash match to Jaxson Ryker, who filled in for an "injured" Elias.
  • After a miracle, Elias was able to suddenly wrestle and took on Jeff Hardy in a losing effort. Hardy picked up the win in a solid match.
  • In tag team action, unlikely partners Keith Lee & Sheamus defeated the Miz & Morrison.
  • Keith Lee defeated Sheamus in singles competition. Yes, you read that right. After the match, Sheamus and Lee hugged and are, apparently, friends again.
  • T-Bar defeated Xavier Woods in singles competition. We learned that Kofi Kingston is out with a broken jaw.
  • In a match for the United States Championship, Bobby Lashley defeated Riddle by submission (the Hurt Lock). After the match, Riddle challenged MVP to a match.
  • Riddle defeated MVP by DQ when Bobby Lashley attacked Riddle mid-match.
  • AJ Styles defeated Drew Gulak. Gulak had to win the match in order to enter the Royal Rumble and, as he lost, he will not be in the Royal Rumble.
  • Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler defeated Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke by submission (Kirifuda Clutch on Rose).
  • In what was supposed to be our replacement for our original main event, Triple H and Randy Orton met in some form of unsanctioned match/brawl. There was no ref, and there were no rules. In the end, the lights dimmed as the Fiend's weird sound effects played. Triple H's sledgehammer was suddenly lit on fire. The lights went out and when they came back up, Triple H was missing. Alexa Bliss was in the ring suddenly, and set off some kind of flare in Orton's face, blinding him as our program ended.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments:
  • Our show opened with Triple H having a confrontation with Randy Orton. Triple H didn't appreciate how Orton treated the Legend last week, and Orton challenged Triple H to a match. Later in the night, Triple H accepted it.
  • We had a lot of video packages recapping events earlier in the night. The show was not bad and had good matches, but it felt like they were stalling for time often, as if they were still writing it throughout the show. Several performers, as noted above, were re-used for second matches.
  • To help promote the Royal Rumble match between Drew McIntyre and Bill Goldberg, we were presented with a package that covered the highlights of Goldbergy's 20+ year career.
