More Backstage Reaction From Wrestlers on Paul Heyman; Details on His Relationship With AJ Styles

-- Paul Heyman's removal from the top of the Raw brand is no longer the talk of the industry, but its effect is still being felt backstage within WWE. A report from fightful.com suggests that the reaction has been all over the board with some feeling "disappointment", some feeling "surprised" and others indicating that they saw the writing on the wall for his departure. Some of the younger wrestlers were most disappointed as Heyman had a reputation for wanting to "new blood" on the shows he was running. Heyman also received praise from several wrestlers who noted that he was always available, including at the "wee hours of the night" to hear ideas and pitches, talking about storylines and it's possible he may have been overwhelmed.

-- As noted already, Heyman was responsible for pushing several under utilized talents on Raw over the last few months including Humberto Carrillo, Aleister Black, AOP, Zelina Vega, Andrade and Buddy Murphy as well as current WWE champion Drew McIntyre. Others he fought for were Apollo Crews, Liv Morgan and The Street Profits. Backstage there was a "lighthearted joke" going around that Heyman built Raw around the "catering crew" as all the wrestlers he was in the middle of pushing had previously spent more time at catering than in the ring. Other talents like Ricochet and Cedric Alexander were also ones that Heyman believed in, but Vince McMahon pulled the plug on their pushes.

-- One wrestler who clashed with Heyman was AJ Styles and reports suggested that it was because Styles felt as if Heyman didn't go to bat for Luke Anderson and Karl Anderson before the duo was released. We have independently verified that report as true and were told that Styles "hated" working with Heyman, blamed him for Anderson and Gallows getting fired and subsequently asked to be moved to Smackdown.
