As previously reported, this past Tuesday night's NJPW New Japan Road 2022 Day 5 Event saw the finals of the All-Atlantic Championship Tournament on NJPW's side of things take place between Clark Connors and Tomohiro Ishii, with the winner advancing to this coming Sunday's Forbidden Door to go up against PAC, Miro and Malakai Black in a 4-Way Match to crown the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion.
Tomohiro Ishii defeated Clark Connors at NJPW's New Japan Road 2022 Day 5 Event this past Tuesday and was set to compete at this Sunday's Forbidden Door in the 4-Way Match to crown the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion.
An update was recently provided by All Elite Wrestling that Ishii suffered an injury during his match against Connors and is not medically cleared to compete at Forbidden Door. It was also announced that Tomohiro Ishii has forfeited his spot at this Sunday's Forbidden Door PPV Event and Clark Connors has been announced as his replacement, so the 4-Way Match will now see Clark Connors vs. PAC vs. Miro vs. Malakai Black to crown the first-ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion.
Shortly following AEW's announcement, NJPW posted a follow-up announcement and revealed that Tomohiro Ishii suffered a left knee injury in the match against Connors, but there is no word yet on when "The Stone" Pitbull Tomohiro Ishii will be back in in-ring action.
AEW and NJPW's Forbidden Door is set to take place this Sunday from the United Center in Chicago, IL, with the Buy-In Pre-Show beginning at 7PM ET and the main show beginning at 8PM ET.
