Pro wrestling veteran Mercedes Martinez announced on her Twitter (X) account that 2026 will mark her final year as a full-time active professional wrestler. She made this announcement on Thursday, January 1, 2026, coinciding with New Year’s Day.
Martinez is best known for her time in SHIMMER and Ring of Honor (ROH), where she held the title of ROH Women’s World Champion from May to December of 2022. Her in-ring career began in 2001, and she had two notable stints with WWE, particularly from 2020 to 2021. Additionally, she competed for TNA (then known as iMPACT Wrestling) in 2021 and 2022.
