RVD Says That Being An Independent Contractor Benefits Pro Wrestlers

Back in 2019, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver took some shots at the WWE for classifying wrestlers as independent contractors and as such, those wrestlers are not being provided with health insurance. WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam took to his Twitter account and got into an argument with some fans for defending the idea that being an independent contractor is actually beneficial to pro wrestlers.

RVD says that all wrestlers have it and they even prefer to buy their own health insurance because it is better to make more money and to take care of yourself than have an employer that pays you less to give you coverage.

A fan then talked about a lot of deaths happening wrestling, to which RVD commented: “By who’s fault? Sorry to make you think.”

RVD was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 Hall of Fame class.
