Tomorrow's WWE Friday Night Smackdown in London will see the United States title defended once again against an opponent not yet known in a tradition that began over the summer.
WWE confirmed today that reigning champion Carmelo Hayes will extend another open challenge, defending his title against yet-to-be-named opponent. This will be his third title defense, having already beaten Johnny Gargano and Shinsuke Nakamura in previous challenges.
Below is the updated lineup for tomorrow's show which has a special afternoon start time:
- WWE Undisputed Champion Drew McIntyre appearance
- SNME Fatal Four-Way Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. The Miz
- SNME Fatal Four-Way Qualifying Match: Solo Sikoa vs. Damian Priest
- SNME Fatal Four-Way Qualifying Match: Matt Cardona vs. Trick Williams
- SNME Fatal Four-Way Qualifying Match: Sami Zayn vs. Ilja Dragunov
- WWE United States Title Open Challenge: Carmelo Hayes vs. TBA
The winners of the four qualifying matches above will all advance to a Fatal Four-Way match at Saturday Night's Main Event on January 24. Whoever wins that match will then become the new #1 Contender and challenge for the WWE Undisputed Title, currently held by Drew McIntyre.
