Update On The Absence Of Top AEW Women's Star

Kenny Omega recently gave fans an update on Hikaru Shida during a Twitch stream, shedding some light on her current situation while she’s away from AEW.

Shida, a former AEW Women’s World Champion, announced last month that she was heading back to Japan to renew her visa and compete in a few matches. But according to Omega, the process is taking longer than expected.

“You never really know how long the process is going to take. And in this case, it’s taking quite a while,” Omega explained during the stream.

While Shida is overseas, Omega has been looking after her two cats — something he’s clearly happy to do, even if it's not without its challenges.

“Her cats get separation anxiety, they don’t like being alone,” he said, adding, “I would do it anytime. It is not a chore whatsoever. I’m enjoying the baby. But I do worry because this week, as you guys know, is pay-per-view week. So we’ve got Dynamite, Collision, then also the pay-per-view.”

Shida hasn’t been in an AEW ring since November 20, when she lost to Kris Statlander on AEW Dynamite. With the visa delay, her return remains uncertain for now — but it’s clear she’s got a solid support system while she’s away.
