It was previously reported that top AEW Star MJF was scheduled to make an appearance at the company's Double Or Nothing Fan Fest yesterday, but MJF no-showed the meet and greet, which was already planned ahead of time and this has now led to his status for tonight's AEW Double or Nothing being uncertain. According to Fightful Select, the company has remained quiet about the situation that happened at the fan fest and said that sources in AEW told them they were “very unhappy about how it all played out.” Another source even stated that communication between MJF and AEW management have reached an all-time low.
The reports also mentions that there are no issues with MJF physically and he is fine, but there is a flight scheduled for him out of Las Vegas, which was booked for late Saturday night, however there is no word yet on if MJF will get on the plane as neither side would reveal why a flight would be booked the night before the Double Or Nothing PPV Event, in which he is scheduled to compete.
MJF has reportedly been frustrated with AEW over the past couple of months due to his contract status with the company and the amount of money he is currently being paid and even though sources have said that the company is willing to discuss a new contract with MJF and pay him a "top performer amount of money" to sign an extension with them, he has turned down any possible talks regarding a new deal.
This all stemmed from MJF having a heated argument with AEW President Tony Khan last April due to the fact that he did an interview without telling the company's PR about it first as well as the comments he made during that interview. Since then, MJF has kept to himself and has distanced himself from the AEW locker room.
