Will Ospreay Pitches Match Against Top Luchadore For AEW Grand Slam Mexico

Will Ospreay already has his eyes on a dream opponent—or two—for AEW’s upcoming historic event in Mexico City.

AEW and CMLL are set to team up for a major show this June at Arena Mexico, marking AEW’s debut in the iconic venue. As excitement builds and tickets fly, Ospreay’s inclusion on the card is a key draw—especially since it’ll be his first time wrestling in Mexico.

While chatting with Q101, Ospreay threw out a couple of names he’d love to see across the ring from him that night.

“Dorada might be a cool one, I think that would be good. Mistico is always great as well just because he’s an icon in Mexico, he’s like super super famous. I feel like I would love to experience that,” he said.

Wrestling in Arena Mexico represents more than just another stop on the tour for Ospreay—it’s a milestone.

“I feel like there’s a small list of people—Tokyo Dome, Wembley Stadium, Madison Square Garden, and Arena Mexico. There’s a small list of people and now I get to be one of those guys on that list, which is such an honor.”

And while he’s ready to tear the house down in the ring, he’s also got his priorities straight—starting with food.

“I’m dead excited, it’s been a long time coming but the one thing I am going to ask is that I need someone of a high standard in CMLL to take me to go get some proper tacos. I am so flipping excited, I cannot tell you how much I’m excited for Mexican food. I love Mexican food so much and to actually get authentic tacos is going to be one of the greatest things I'll ever do in my wrestling career.”

Ospreay’s next big match will be in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at Double or Nothing.
