While chatting on The Nikki & Brie Show, WWE star Naomi opened up about a deeply personal decision she’s currently weighing: stepping away from the ring to start a family.
Naomi, who married fellow WWE talent Jimmy Uso in 2014, is already a stepmom to his two teenage kids, now 16 and 18. With the two almost grown and preparing to leave home, she shared that she and Jimmy have started seriously talking about having children of their own.
“I always wanted kids young. I always wanted a lot. But now I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh. Your girl is getting up there, right?’ I’m 37,” Naomi said during the interview. “There’s no time. I’ve got to figure this out like yesterday.”
She didn’t shy away from the challenges she faces. Naomi revealed that she’s dealt with health issues, including having only one ovary, which complicates the timeline even more.
“I’m definitely leaning towards it, but I also have had health issues. I only have one ovary. So even if I wanted to wrestle longer, my biological clock — I can’t,” she explained.
Her current run in WWE has taken on new meaning because of all this. Knowing that her time in the ring may be winding down has made her more present and passionate about her performances.
“If we’re going to have kids, I have to start that process very soon. So with that on my mind too and on my plate, I think that makes my time left here even more special and valuable to me. And that’s why I’m just so passionate about what I’m doing, ’cause I really think this might be it.”
Another emotional layer to her decision is the fear that comes with childbirth itself. Naomi spoke candidly about losing a close cousin during labor — a trauma that still lingers.
“Another thing that really scares me is the actual birth. And that’s something we kind of really don’t talk about. I lost my cousin who we grew up with — we were like this. She passed away giving birth to her last. But that scares me as well. But there’s so much love that I give to my family, my nieces, my nephews, my cousins, my stepkids.”
Despite all the unknowns, Naomi says she’s grateful for everything she’s experienced so far — but she’s also trying to avoid any future regrets.
“I do (feel satisfied), but I don’t want to regret later,” she added.
