Tonight's episode of WWE Smackdown is the first one following last weekend's Backlash PLE and it will feature all the fallout from that event.
Earlier today, WWE publicized their first updates for the show announcing three separate segments.
Former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is set to appear on the show where he will officially decide whether he is joining the Smackdown brand and going after the Undisputed WWE Title currently held by Cody Rhodes. Of course, the obvious answer is that he will indeed be making that jump. Rhodes and Gunther are expected to face off for the title at Clash in Italy later this month.
Also announced for tonight is a special homecoming for Trick Williams, who returns to the University of South Carolina campus where tonight's show at Colonial Life Arena takes place. Williams played college football for the school and will be celebrating that return along with a successful title defense at Backlash against Sami Zayn.
Finally, Jade Cargill will be on hand to address her attack on Rhea Ripley last week. Cargill dropped the WWE Women's title to Ripley at WrestleMania 42 and disappeared for a couple of weeks before returning and setting her sights on getting her championship back.
