WWE Files To Trademark Io Shirai’s New Ring Name

Last July 31, WWE filed to trademark the “IYO SKY” ring name with the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) for entertainment services. “IYO SKY” is the new in-ring name of Io Shirai, who has been out of in-ring action since this past April due to an injury. Prior to making her WWE return at last Saturday night's WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event, when the former WWE NXT Women's Champion, Bayley and Dakota Kai made their way out shortly following the opening match between reigning WWE RAW Women's Champion Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch, SKY last competed for WWE in a Fatal 4-Way Matchup at the NXT Stand & Deliver Event.

IYO SKY's WWE contract was reportedly set to expire this month, but it looks like a new deal has been reached as she is now a part of the WWE main roster with Bayley and Dakota Kai and they are currently tied up in a storyline with the WWE RAW Women's Champion "The EST Of WWE" Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Asuka and Alexa Bliss.

Below is the use description submitted to the USPTO:

“Mark For: IYO SKY trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
