Friday Night Smackdown Quick Recap (Spoilers Below)

It's Friday. You know what that means.

For those of you who want just the quick results and don't want the details of matches, this is a quick recap of tonight's show. There are spoilers for tonight's show below. The full results can be found right here.

Matches Tonight: 6
  • In our first match, Big E defeated King Corbin by Disqualification when Sami Zayn interfered and attacked Big E. The Knights of the Lone Wolfe (fka Forgotten Sons) get in the ring and beat on Big E til Apollo Crews makes the save.
  • Apollo Crews & Big E defeated King Corbin & Sami Zayn in an impromptu match. During the match, Zayn kept squabbling with the Knights, angering the King and causing the King and his Knights to leave Sami to fend for himself.
  • The Riott Squad defeated Tamina & Natalya. Billie Kay originally thought she was in the match, teaming with Tamina, but saw she was replaced with Natalya. During the match, she screamed "support" and "coached" Natalya & Tamina as Nattie continued to yell at her to shut up. She then switched sides to "coach" the Riott Squad, who also yelled at her to shut up. After the match, she cheered the Riott Squad on and followed them up the ramp a bit.
  • Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair were defeated by Bayley & Carmella, in part thanks to interference by Reginald the Sommelier.
  • Daniel Bryan and Otis w/ Chad Gable defeated Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura. Afterwards, all three faces did the "three amigos" and we learned that Chad Gable is coaching Daniel Bryan in preparation of the Royal Rumble. I guess Drew Gulak's coaching services weren't available.
  • In our main event match, Kevin Owens defeated Jey Uso. After the match, Owens handcuffed Uso to the ropes and beat him repeatedly before beating him up the ramp. As Owens was ready to hit a Frog Splash off a higher row of the bleachers, Roman Reigns ambushed him. Reigns & Uso beat Owens before throwing him about ten to fifteen feet up, off the row of bleachers, and through a table to end our program.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments:
  • We opened our program with a 27 minute Roman Reigns entrance (kidding, not quite that long). Roman, Jey Uso, and Paul Heyman cut a promo in the ring about Roman's pride in Jey. Kevin Owens interrupted and demanded a match with Jey Uso, with intentions to destroy him then come for Roman Reigns.
  • The Street Profits had a "New Year's Day Smoke-tacular" segment in which they ran down their accolades from 2020 and made predictions for 2021. They called Dolph Ziggler the "Heart-Ache Kid." Ziggler and Roode attacked them from behind and hammered Montez Ford's knee with a steel chair a few times.
