WWE Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for 6/4/2021, Episode 1,137

Matches Tonight: 5
  • Our first match saw the Mysterios defeat the Usos to retain their tag titles. The ref made a glaring mistake, as Uso's shoulder was not down for the three, and our announcers replayed the ending multiple times.
  • Carmella defeated Liv Morgan by submission with the Code of Silence in a short, albeit entertaining, match.
  • Corbin defeated King Shinsuke Nakamura in singles action. Nakamura continues to be escorted/musically played out by Rick Boogz (if Elias is a lil' bit country, Boogz is a lil' bit rock n' roll).
  • In our Intercontinental Championship match, Apollo Crews successfully retained over Kevin Owens. Crews dominated the entire match after Owens was (lightly) assaulted prior to the match by Commander Azeez.
  • Our main event match, a rematch of our opening match and once again for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, saw the Usos fail once again to defeat the reigning champions the Mysterios. This time, the Mysterios won by DQ as Roman Reigns attacked and destroyed the champs to end our program.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • Roman Reigns Entrance/Walk Tracker: six minutes. Reigns opened our show, warning Jimmy Uso to win the titles tonight or else. Roman was not happy with Jimmy getting a match set without consulting Reigns first, and Jimmy still hesitates to openly embrace Roman's role as head of the table.
  • After disappointing Roman Reigns by failing to win the SmackDown tag team championships, Roman warned Jimmy to get this "fixed tonight"--talk to Pearce, Sonya Deville, any official...just get it fixed or else. Later in the night, a championship rematch was set for our main event.
  • The Street Profits upset the Alpha Academy; later in the night, Otis attacked them for upsetting and offending Chad Gable.
  • Bianca Belair expressed a distaste for Bayley's laugh, then challenged Bayley to a match at Hell in a Cell, promising to end the laughter. Bayley accepted.
  • Rick Boogz again played Nakamura's lead theme and escorted the King of Strong Style out to the ring.
  • Pat McAfee's work is improving; he's getting more comfortable in the heel role, and really is enthusiastic about the competitors and matches, including jumping around on the announcer's table during Nakamura's entrance.
  • Prior to the Intercontinental Championship match, Commander Azeez assaulted Kevin Owens backstage.
  • Corbin did defeat Nakamura, but Shinsuke retained possession of the crown and is still your Once and Future King.
  • The Street Profits issued a warning to Otis and Chad Gable of the Alpha Academy after verbal and physical conflict between both parties tonight.
  • Fun fact: our show opened and closed with the same match.
