WWE Friday Night SmackDown: ThrowBack Quick Recap for 5/7/2021
Matches Tonight: 5
- Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins, with a little unintentional help from the Usos. Cesaro will now face Roman Reigns for the Universal title at WrestleMania: Backlash.
- Carmella, with new ring wear and entrance (yes, again) defeated Ruby Riott by submission.
- Filling in for his dad, Dominik Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler of the Dirty Dawgs ahead of their SmackDown tag championship match this Sunday.
- Tamina utterly destroyed Reginald the Sommelier in an intergender match but won by DQ when Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler interfered to save poor Reginald.
- In our ten-man main event match, the team of Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews, King Corbin, Sami Zayn and Alpha Academy defeated the team of Big E, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens and the Street Profits.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
- Jimmy Uso returned after an extended absence. He came out fired up and now both Usos work for their cousin.
- Multiple retro logos, clips, wrestler fight cards, etc. Definitely a bit fun.
- Over a half dozen clips from famous matches in SmackDown history aired.
- Our final segment of the night was a family reckoning, as Roman Reigns demanded the returning Jimmy Uso state his loyalties. After Cesaro ambushed Reigns, he successfully fought off Jey and Jimmy Uso when both brothers attempted to lend aide. He ended the program standing tall over the champion that he'll face Sunday, and the tribe as well.
