WWE Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for September 10, 2021

Matches Tonight: Three
  • Ten-Man Tag Team Match: King Nakamura, Boogz, Big E & the Mysterios vs Sami Zayn, Otis, Apollo Crews & the Dirty Dawgs. Mostly a spot-match, with each man hitting signature moves as the ref lost complete control over who was legal or not. Nakamura, Big E, Boogz & the Mysterios proved victorious. 8:20-8:32pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Edge vs Seth Rollins. WWE has billed this match as the final in their feud. The crowd was huge for Edge's entrance, and hot for both men during the match. Incredible match and worth seeing despite their many, many previous matches. This was better than SummerSlam and the crowd ate it up. If I rated matches on a five star level, this would easily be a 4.5. Fantastic match that was exciting every moment and kept the crowd hot. Rollins won after delivering three Superkicks and a Stomp before putting away the veteran. 9:00-9:25pm EST.
  • SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos(c) vs the Street Profits. Yet another great match that saw the Usos retain by disqualification when Roman Reigns interfered to prevent a title change. 9:38-9:57pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks: the WWE opened with a very well-produced and touching video. 8:00-8:04pm EST.
  • Brock/Roman: In a great segment, Brock revealed Heyman knew he'd be at SummerSlam. The Bloodline turned their back on Heyman, but still came to his rescue when Lesnar attempted an F5. Lesnar then cleared house, chasing off Roman & the Usos in great fashion. The crowd was HUGELY hot for heel Roman and Brock. Great, great crowd. 8:04-8:16pm EST. Later, throughout the night, the distrust between Roman and Heyman was explored further.
  • Guest Appearances: Sami Zayn had Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks come out in a successful effort to troll the NYC crowd. And after our main event, "Demon" Finn Bálor made his SmackDown Debut--and it's the first time we've seen the Demon in ages.
  • Contract Signing: SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch sat down with challenger Bianca Belair to sign their Extreme Rules rematch contract. Lynch did a lot to solidify her role as a heel, successfully turning the NYC crowd from cheers to jeers. Both signed the contract. 8:35-8:49pm EST.
  • Roman Reigns Entrance Tracker: Music began at 8:04pm; Roman & Usos began descent on ramp at 8:06pm; Roman entered the ring at 8:08; and Roman began to speak at 8:10pm. No official reason has been given as to why Roman's entrance was rushed this week.
  • Monday on Raw: WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will defend his title against Randy Orton.
