WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley's Legend Deal Expiring Next Month; AEW Reportedly Interested

A wrestling legend whose name has been synonymous with WWE is set to become a free agent and he could be headed to rival AEW.

Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is expected to let his Legends deal with the company lapse when it comes up for renewal next month and there's a chance he could be AEW-bound.

The report cites multiple sources who have noted that AEW has expressed "real interest" in working with Foley this year, though in which capacity is unclear. It's also not known if AEW would be interested in signing him to an agreement or to instead bring him in only for an appearance or two once he's clear of his WWE deal.

Foley has been a vocal critic of WWE's association with President Donald Trump, openly criticizing the company for supporting the Trump administration even after his comments about the death of actor Rob Reiner. As a result, Foley proclaimed that he would not be re-signing a new WWE Legends contract and would instead simply let his existing agreement expire in June.

While WWE Legends contracts don't specifically prevent those individuals from working with other companies, there are restrictions mainly related to intellectual property related matters including royalties, merchandising, etc.

Foley hasn't wrestled since 2012 but has made multiple appearances for WWE over the years.
