The rumors of AJ Lee returning to WWE after more than a decade long absence are getting stronger and the company is fully leaning into it to the point where it seems very likely to happen.
On the heels of Clash in Paris when Becky Lynch made a surprise appearance during the World Heavyweight Title match helping her husband Seth Rollins win by screwing over CM Punk, Lynch returned on Raw to further taunt Punk culminating in multiple slaps across the face. That caused Punk to warn Becky that she would regret putting her hands on him. At various points throughout the segment, the audience chanted "AJ Lee" prompting Lynch to remark that "she doesn't work here" and "Classic, always chanting for a dope that doesn’t work here."
Later on in the show, Punk met up with Raw GM Adam Pearce and asked him where this week's Smackdown is taking place. When Pearce revealed it is his hometown Chicago, Punk responded by saying "tremendous", leaving Pearce to wonder what he was up to.
