WWE NXT News, Notes & Rumors: Next Week's Battle Royal, Brooks Jensen Storyline, more

  • Next week on NXT, there will be a 25-man battle royal to determine the new #1 contender for Trick Williams' NXT championship. The majority of talent who will compete in said match was actually locked in by Tuesday with inquiries being made last week about using wrestlers on Raw and/or Smackdown. NXT talent also expect some TNA presence in the match but a final decision on who will be there and who won't be is expected to be made by the end of the week.
  • The announce team on NXT have dropped some hints directed at Joe Hendry and Giulia recently and apparently these were not improvisations by Vic Joseph and instead were pre-planned statements that he was told to make.
  • Several of the members of the NIL class that were shown on TV took part in the recent tryouts at the WWE Performance Center.
  • Cody Rhodes made a rare appearance for NXT on Tuesday and was reportedly talking to any and all talent that he could during his visit.
  • WWE continues the Brooks Jensen storyline but have yet to show any footage of his interactions with announcers/commentators on TV. NXT sources have stated that they are relying on the live fan reactions to carry the storyline for now and are pleased with how the story has blurred lines with some fans.
  • As noted before, AEW talent Rebel was backstage at NXT but was only there visiting friends. She is said to be "personally connected" to someone who works within the brand.
  • WWE officials are happy with Wendy Choo's new character and presentations as well as the fan reaction to this new direction.
