WWE NXT Quick Recap for 12/30/2020
For those of you who want just the quick results and don't want the details of matches, this is a quick recap of tonight's show. There are spoilers for tonight's show below. The full results can be found right here.
Matches Tonight: 6
- Bronson Reed defeated Isaiah "Swerve" Scott in our opening match.
- The Grizzled Young Veterans defeated Breezango in a very good match.
- Mercedes Martinez defeated Valentina Feroz in a squash match.
- Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong with the Bitter End in a great match.
- In an impromptu and surprise match, the Lucha House Party defeated Legado Del Fantasma in tag team action.
- In our main event for the North American Championship that saw our program run ten minutes over the allotted time, Johnny Gargano defeated Leon Ruff to retain the title. In a wicked spot at the end of the match, Leon Ruff went face-first into the top turnbuckle and it looks like his head connected with the ring post, snapping his head back. Here's to hoping he's okay!
Fun Fact: NXT had 6 matches in two hours; Raw had 7 matches in three hours.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments:
- It was announced that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will return in two weeks on January 13th!
- During a Finn Bálor in-ring promo, Karrion Kross and Scarlett came out to let him know that doomsday was coming. Damian Priest showed up behind Kross, and the two brawled down to the ring, through the barricade, to the back, and to the side-stage area before putting each other through tables. The cameraman definitely spent most of that ending focused on Scarlett's outfit than the competitors.
