WWE Saturday Night's Main Event News, Notes & Possible Spoilers

Below are more news, notes and possible spoilers for tonight's WWE Saturday Night's Main Event:

  • John Cena's final opponent, Gunther, was something that WWE decided on many months ago, even when Gunther was out of action with an injury.
  • NXT wrestlers will be competing on tonight's card in multiple matches. The "driving force" between this idea was indeed John Cena's, however, WWE sources have revealed that he wasn't involved in picking the actual wrestlers from NXT that will be in action tonight.
  • The rumor is that tonight's event has no real run-time limit since it's only streaming on Peacock rather than on linear TV (NBC) as previous events have. WWE officials haven't confirmed this report but also didn't deny it either.
  • Jesse "The Body" Ventura is back and will be at tonight's Saturday Night's Main Event. Ventura was originally scheduled to appear at all the SNME episodes this year but after he made some critical remarks of the cage match finish earlier in the year and WWE's plans to feature Hulk Hogan before his death, Ventura was left on the sidelines until tonight. For what it's worth, many in the company had no idea he would be back and only found out about it this week.
  • There has been no indication to anyone backstage that Vince McMahon or Donald Trump will make appearances at this show. Trump's presence would be much harder to coordinate while Vince could certainly "slip in" without many people knowing about it.
  • There are expected to be dark matches on tonight's show and a number of wrestlers not announced as having matches were brought in.
  • As reported before, Stephanie McMahon will be co-hosting tonight's show with Joe Tessitore. It is expected that multiple names from the past will be shown on TV including Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Trish Stratus and possibly even Linda McMahon.
