Fightful.com initially reported on February 18th that WWE has filed for trademarks on two ring names: "Dorian Van Dux" and "Tristan Angels." The trademarks cover a range of entertainment uses, including wrestling performances, online content, fan engagement platforms, and merchandise. This is standard procedure for WWE, as they like to secure intellectual property early before heavily investing in character development.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer, NXT recruit Nathaniel Cranton will now perform under the name Tristan Angels. Previously, he wrestled as Nathan Angel before signing with WWE last October. Since then, he has been participating in NXT live events under his real name while the company finalized branding plans for him. This phase now appears to be over, with Tristan Angels confirmed as his official name on the NXT roster moving forward.
As for the name "Dorian Van Dux," it has not yet been confirmed who will use it. There is speculation that it might be intended for another recruit from the October class, which included Cyril Coquerelle, now known in NXT as Elio LeFleur, or prospect Mike Derudder. However, the company has not publicly associated the name with any specific performer at this time.
