WWE Smackdown Wrestlemania Revenge
Newark, Delaware
May 9, 2005
Kate-Dogg, Rajah Reader
Hey, Rajah, just got back from the Smackdown house show in Newark, Delaware. Pretty
cool show and awesome 'after-party'.
Howard Finkle was our ring announcer for the night and Johnny B, a local DJ, plugged
something the station does.
Match 1: Paul London vs. Spike Dudley
Spike got a pretty good pop at first but quickly got heat by picking on some people
at ringside. Paul comes out next and Spike plays the cowardly heel by sliding out of
the ring everytime Paul got near him. Lots of "You Suck!" chants for Spike. London
retains after the 450 splash.
Next:
The Fink introduces Teddy Long, who thanks us for making Smackdown what it is today.
He says he has some bad news, that Rey isn't going to be able to compete due to the
attack by Eddie last Thursday, which gets some heat. He calls out Eddy, who comes
out and is quiet for a few minutes before totally snapping on Teddy and telling him
that Rey got what he deserved. He threatens the Fink and tells him to get out of the
ring and says Rey owes us an apology for making Eddy snap. Eddy says he isn't
wrestling tonight, that he isn't prepared. Teddy says Eddy will fight in a Street
Fight against the largest athlete in the WWE, which leads us to...
Match 2: Eddy vs. Big Show in a Street Fight
Very quick match (under 1.5 minutes) which ends in Eddy getting disqualified for low
blowing Show. Eddy leaves quickly to some heat and Big Show recovers and waves to
the crowd before leaving.
Match 3: Heidenreich vs. Rene Dupree
Heidenreich goes to read us a poem but is interrupted by Dupree, who draws the USA
chants. Short match with Dupree focusing on Heidenreich's bicep and Heidenreich
pulling out the win somehow. Nothing special except for the guy in front of me
calling Dupree a "Flaky Pastry" which was kinda humorous.
Match 4: Carlito Caribbean Cool vs. Nunzio
Carlito comes out to a decent pop and Nunzio draws a few ECW chants. Basic match
with Carlito controlling Nunzio and taking the padding off the turnbuckle. Brian
Hebner notices this and goes to fix the turnbuckle as Nunzio rolls up Carlito.
Carlito gets his apple and Nunzio kicks him in the stomach and the apple flies
across the ring. The end came when Carlito powerbombed Nunzio out of the corner.
Match 5: Kurt Angle vs. Booker T
Funny moment before the match when Charles Robinson came to the ring and I let out a
really loud "Woo!" He looked up and grinned but didn't do the Flair strut, which was
a bummer! The match was good, with Angle focusing on Booker's knee and getting a few
near falls and close submissions. We get a Spinaroonie, a Bookend, an Angle Slam,
and a scissors kick for some close near falls. The end came with a quick roll up by
Booker for the victory.
Intermission: They shot out T-shirts, nothing special except Teddy called out the
Fink when he hid a shirt in his jacket.
Match 6: MNM vs. Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas
Not a bad match with MNM being dirty every chance they got. MNM cornered Charlie for
awhile. Hardcore got the hot tag but was out after one of MNM superkicked him when
he was going for the Alabama Slam. After the match, Charlie raised Hardcore's arm in
voctory. Charlie was pretty over, as he got his start in the ECWA (East Coast
Wrestling Association) and was really humble.
Next: The Diva Best Body Contest
Miss Jackie, Joy Giovanni, and Michelle McCool all take off their robes to reveal
their bikinis, but when Torrie Wilson goes to reveal her body, the bells ding and
out come JBL and Orlando Jordan. They tell the divas to leave but then JBL offers to
tell how much the divas are worth (25 cents for Joy and Jackie, 50 cents for
Michelle, and 75 cents for Torrie) and comments that combined, they aren't even
worth a $2 whore. JBL says that there's a good thing there isn't a pole in the
middle of the ring cause the ref (Brian Hebner) would be throwing dollars away. JBL
then says he doesn't even know why he is wasting his time in Newark, New Jersey
because we all suck. Fink tells him we are in Delaware and JBL says he doesn't care,
that we still suck. He then busts on some guy wearing a cowboy hat along the
aisleway, calling him a wannabe Texan. JBL says we all paid to see him and that he
wouldn't disappoint, that he and OJ would beat Cena. This leads to:
Match 7: Cena vs. JBL and Orlando Jordan
Cena comes out to an awesome pop and says JBL is wrong, that we came to see Cena.
The match has Cena kicking both JBL and OJ's asses before JBL grabs the mic and says
"Screw your crappy rap album, screw Newark, New Jersey, and screw you. I'll see you
at the pay-per-view. Now count me out!" Cena chases JBL and OJ down and the heels
quickly gain control. Cena gets beat down for a few minutes before gaining momentum.
He goes for a clothesline on JBL, who pulls Brian Hebner in the way. JBL hits the
Clothesline from Hell, but there is no ref. The Bashams drag Lil Naitch down to the
ring but only gets a 2 count. The Bashams dispose of Robinson, Cena disposes of the
Bashams and OJ tries to get a cheap victory by using Hebner's arm to count Cena down
after JBL hit him with the title. Cena hits the FU on JBL and Hebner recovers to
make the count.
The Cabinet quickly retreats and Cena says that Newark, Delaware is going to help
JBL learn what he will be saying at Judgment Day: "I QUIT!" Cena thanks us and says
he is a little nervous cause his CD is going to be released in a couple hours. He
tells us to join him at Best Buy for an autograph signing and that he is going to be
there all night long to party if we want!
We went to Best Buy, of course. Cena was only supposed to be there for midnight to 1
but he started signing autographs at 11:15. The Best Buy employees said that no
pictures were to be taken and that John would only be signing one copy of the
CD/WM21 DVD but when we got up there, he was signing everything and taking pictures.
Tha Trademarc was there too and was really nice. He shook my hand and we chatted for
a few minutes while this poor woman in front of me nearly died while John signed her
stuff. When I met John, I had a blonde moment and said "Hey, we got on the same
shirt." He laughed and said "I like your style, baby." He signed my CD and DVD and
took a picture. John was really nice, humble, and polite. And VERY hot in person.
The belt is nice too. My knees are still shaking. John is a really nice guy and if
you get the chance, go see him. You won't regret it. Standing outside in freezing
weather with only a t-shirt and jeans on was well worth it!
All in all, the show was cool. The crowd was hot for the most part. The Bob was
about 3/4 full.
Biggest Pops:
1. Cena (by far)
2. Torrie Wilson
3. Booker T
Most Heat:
1. JBL and OJ
2. Kurt Angle (You Suck chants were REALLY loud!)
3. MNM
