AEW star HOOK made his highly anticipated return to the company during the post-AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door episode of Dynamite last night. He debuted a new entrance song, “So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town,” by Jay-Jay Johnson, released in 1996.
According to Fightful Select, the decision to move away from Action Bronson’s theme song, which HOOK had used for several years, stemmed from issues that arose last year. Reports indicated that comments made by Bronson, which were critical of the AEW environment, led to tension between him and several individuals within AEW.
The report mentions that at least one person indicated that the relationship may have improved between Bronson and AEW at some point, but by that time, the decision to give HOOK a different theme song had already been finalized. Back in January, it was noted that HOOK was appearing without his entrance song because the rights to Bronson’s track had expired, and AEW was working on plans for his new entrance music.
Additionally, the report stated that during that time, AEW had been ensuring that HOOK made his appearances alongside others or attacked opponents without his entrance theme playing.
