Backstage Heat on Charlotte Flair After Incident on WWE Smackdown

-- In an update on the backstage confrontation between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, it seems most, if not all, of the heat is falling on Flair due to people believing she is responsible for the segment not going as planned. The specific action that is being targeted is when Flair pulled the Raw women's title away as Lynch went to grab it and according to sources, this was never rehearsed by the talent, let alone even suggested by the creative team, according to pwinsider.com. The conclusion was that Charlotte went off script to make Lynch look "stupid" by one-upping and forcing her to pick up the belt. However, that ad-hoc plan of hers didn't succeed as Sonya Deville then made her pick the belt up and give it to Lynch.

-- The report adds that the "backstage argument" took place in the Gorilla position and after the confrontation, Flair was asked to leave the venue immediately to avoid any further problems and she was escorted out by a WWE official. There is now heat on Flair in "certain circles" for not only disrespecting Lynch but taking the segment away from the intended plan to build towards a program against Sasha Banks, who is the new top babyface on the brand, and thus undermining her as well. There appears to be no heat on Lynch and those backstage felt that was because she was seen as simply standing her ground and protecting herself after Flair pushed her to a "boiling point."

-- Charlotte Flair, meanwhile was said to be very upset after the segment ended and some wondered whether the tweet by Andrade ("FU WWE") was in response to this backstage incident rather than his match on AEW Dynamite as he tweeted very soon after the confrontation would have happened. PWInsider squashed rumors of this being a ploy by Charlotte to get out of her contract as they noted she has "years left on her current deal" and WWE is unlikely to let someone like her simply walk out and jump over to AEW.
