Backstage News On When Brock Lesnar Was Expected To Retire From The Ring

In the opening matchup of WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two last night, Oba Femi quickly defeated Brock Lesnar. Femi survived an F-5 and a trip to Suplex City from Lesnar, then fought back and executed a Fall From Grace to secure the pinfall victory. This win cements Femi’s status as the next big star in WWE.

After the match, Lesnar removed his gloves and boots, which many interpreted as a symbolic gesture signaling his retirement. He then embraced his longtime friend and onscreen manager, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman. This moment felt like a curtain call for The Beast Incarnate.

Heyman raised Lesnar’s arm, and Lesnar took a victory lap of sorts, standing in the corner and engaging with the crowd. He then sat in the middle of the ring and took a final bow before leaving with Heyman. Lesnar appeared grateful for the warm reception he received from fans and continued to interact with the audience before heading backstage.

According to Fightful Select, many within WWE expected Lesnar to retire at SummerSlam, which will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this year—Lesnar’s home state. The report noted that if WrestleMania 42 turns out to be Lesnar’s final match, his retirement came sooner than many anticipated.
