During last night's WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two event, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to become the new United States Champion. Williams was positioned as a babyface in the match, receiving a positive reaction from the crowd, which has been increasingly common over the past few weeks.
According to Fightful Select, discussions about a babyface turn for Williams began over a month ago. This shift was attributed to his growing popularity and the positive fan reactions, especially in relation to his entrance song.
The report also noted that Williams ended his run in NXT as a heel, a role he had maintained since TNA Rebellion 2025. When he debuted on the WWE main roster in January, he was also positioned as a heel by interrupting Randy Orton but soon began transitioning into a babyface.
Williams’ victory for the United States Championship marks his first title on the main roster, and he secured the win with Lil Yachty in his corner.
