WWE Files To Trademark New NXT Signee LA Night

This past February 14th, WWE filed to trademark the "LA Night" name with the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) under the entertainment services classification.

It is interesting to note that when the former Eli Drake made his NXT debut this past Sunday night at the NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day Event, his name was spelled as “LA Knight.” However, it seems that it will now be “LA Night.”

LA Night had originally been under contract with NXT from October 2013 through May 2014. He then went to IMPACT where he established himself as a main event wrestler and had also been working for the NWA before signing with the WWE for a second stint.

LA Night still uses the previous spelling on his Twitter account, but he’s likely to change it to the new spelling just as the WWE has filed for.

Below is the use description WWE submitted to the USPTO for the "LA Night" name:

“International Class 041: Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal

Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.”
